Karen Routt

Purvi Rami

Karen Routt’s expertise spans three decades of work in the non-profit, government, private, and entrepreneurial sectors.  Early in her career she was employed at top-tier consulting firms (Arthur Anderson & Co., CSC Index) where she provided information technology solutions to Fortune 500 companies, such as Chemical Bank and Digital Equipment Company.  Later, she brought her private sector skills to the public sector as Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Cambridge, MA.

Following, she developed a successful independent consultancy practice where she engaged with world-renowned corporate, research, and educational institutions and organizations, developing a much sought-after expertise in heath disparities and low-income populations. She brings her deep and varied background to special projects with Brimhall & Associates.

In 2007, she founded a technology-based tool, Magnolia Prime, to deliver multi-lingual communication to residents of affordable housing communities, foretelling the overwhelming need experienced during the pandemic.  She holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of Michigan.  She has volunteered extensively for non-profit boards in Boston and the San Francisco bay area, such as Shelter, Inc. and Alta Housing, and including as a trustee for the Cambridge Health Alliance and with Stanford University alumni groups.
